1. Overview
This policy explains what information the Wave Gazing team (the "operator") processes in providing the mobile application Wave Gazing (파도멍, the "app"), why, for how long, and your rights. The operator complies with the laws that apply where you live, including the Korean Personal Information Protection Act and the EU GDPR.
2. Information we do not collect
- Accounts, real names, email, phone numbers, contacts — no sign-up or sign-in is required.
- Photos, camera, microphone, precise location — the app does not use the camera, gallery, microphone or location (GPS) permissions. For approximate location, see section 4.
3. Information kept only on your device
The place, time, weather and wave size you chose, settings such as sound, speed and auto-advance, the hour opened by watching an ad and the day's free swimming time are stored only on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the app. The operator does not send this information to any server.
4. Information processed and why
| Information | Purpose | Processed by |
|---|---|---|
| App interactions (launches, scene changes, choosing locked items, opening the premium screen, purchases, ad rewards), diagnostics (app version, errors, performance), app instance ID, device info (model, OS, language), approximate region (from IP), advertising ID | Usage analytics, improving the app, measuring ad performance | Google Firebase Analytics |
| Device IDs such as the advertising ID, device info, approximate location estimated from the IP address, ad interactions | Showing, personalising and measuring ads; managing ad consent | Google AdMob · Google UMP |
| Payment receipts and purchase/subscription history (product, time, country and currency, renewal and cancellation status), a random anonymous purchaser ID, device platform | Providing, verifying and restoring premium (subscriptions, lifetime) | Google Play Billing · RevenueCat |
Summary of data collected and shared (Google Play Data safety)
- Approximate location — the app never asks for location. Our ad partner (Google AdMob) estimates it from the IP address and collects and processes it for advertising.
- Device or other IDs (advertising ID, app instance ID, anonymous purchaser ID) — collected for app functionality (purchase verification), analytics and advertising, and shared with Google.
- App interactions — collected for analytics and advertising and shared with Google.
- Diagnostics — collected for analytics and shared with Google.
- Purchase history — only if you buy premium, processed for app functionality (providing and restoring it).
All information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
Ads and consent
The app shows Google AdMob ads (a full-screen ad at launch, a full-screen ad when moving to another scene, a banner while the settings are open, an ad on the exit screen, and rewarded ads). No ads are shown while premium is active. Users in the EU, the UK and other regions where required are asked for consent through Google UMP (a consent management platform). There, Firebase Analytics usage collection follows this choice too, and the consent result is applied to ad-related collection. Elsewhere, usage collection is on by default. Where it applies, you can change your consent at any time under "Privacy settings" in the "Sleep" tab of the settings, and you can reset or delete the advertising ID or limit ad personalisation in your device settings. Without consent, non-personalised ads may still be shown, and the approximate location (from IP) may still be used to show ads and prevent fraud. Rewarded ads play only when you choose them. See Google's partner sites policy for details.
In-app purchases and subscriptions
Premium payments are processed by Google Play; the operator never receives card numbers or other payment details. Purchase verification and restoring are handled by the purchase management service RevenueCat, using an anonymous ID created by the app, not your name or email. See the RevenueCat privacy policy for details.
5. Retention
- Information on your device: until you uninstall the app
- Information processed by Google and RevenueCat: under each service's retention policy (Firebase Analytics event data for up to 14 months). Purchase records may be kept as long as needed for restoring purchases and as required by law.
6. Sharing, processors and international transfers
The operator does not sell your information. The items in section 4 are shared with the services named there for advertising, analytics and payment processing, and with no other third parties. These services (Google Firebase Analytics, AdMob, UMP, Google Play, RevenueCat) process information under their own policies and may operate outside your country (for example in the United States).
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the age set by local law) and does not knowingly collect their personal information. If we learn that a child's information has been collected, we delete it without delay.
8. Your rights and deletion requests
You can delete the data on your device by uninstalling the app, change your ad consent under "Privacy settings" (where it applies), and reset or delete the advertising ID in your device settings. The operator keeps no information that identifies you on any server, but for questions or deletion requests, please email us below; we will act without delay.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with its effective date.
